Samsung Engineering wins early work contract from Sartorius Korea Operations LLC

Samsung Engineering announced on December 9th that it had signed a contract with Sartorius Korea Operations LLC for the early work for a plant on the ‘Sartorius Songdo Campus’ in Korea. The contract amount is approximately KRW 78.4 billion, and Samsung Engineering plans to carry out the initial construction work of the project, such as site suspension, pile construction, foundation work, and permit support etc. by the end of next year.


Founded in Germany 1870, the Sartorius Group is a leading international partner of life science research and the biopharmaceutical industry and had announced its plans for the large-scale expansion project in Korea last year.


The plant, to be built in the Incheon Free Economic Zone in Songdo, Incheon, will be a facility for the manufacture of products such as sterile bags, cell culture media and membrane filters. There will also be facilities for R&D and Service, as well as a training and application center.

Samsung Engineering implemented from the beginning of the project their ‘FEED to EPC strategy’ and successfully carried out basic engineering and detailed engineering work, gaining the trust of the client. In addition, proposing to the client a differentiated construction strategy based on rich bio product experience and technological competitiveness in the Songdo region had a great impact on winning this order.

Samsung Engineering entered the bio plant field for the first time in 2011 and established itself as a strong player in the Korean bio plant market by successfully carrying out projects in Songdo and Pyeongtaek. With this order,Samsung Engineering secures a global bio company as a new customer, expand its business from the biopharmaceutical market to the biomaterials market, and anticipated to win related orders such as additional investment projects in the future.
